When: Sunday, August 14th, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Where: Salmon Arm Fish and Game Club Rifle Range
Who: Members of Salmon Arm Fish and Game Club and their guests, under-18 must be supervised by a parent. We will also be inviting some neighbouring clubs.
Fee: $10, on the day of the event.
Basics – A Juggernaut Shoot is a free hand (standing) centre fire rifle shoot. The targets are water-filled milk and windshield washer jugs suspended at 50, 75 and 100 yards. Pairs of shooters compete by shooting at five jugs, two assigned to each shooter, and the last one
for whoever gets it first. Points are allotted one point per jug. Each shooter is allowed up to 5 shots for each distance, and each heat is a maximum of 3 minutes.
Rifles – This started out as practicing for hunting years ago so we are using hunting rounds only. Varmint rounds work best, no full metal jacket. Any rifle you might hunt with is OK. Protection – Eye and ear protection are both mandatory. Both earplugs and earmuffs are recommended as some guns will have muzzle brakes and will be very loud. A supply of earplugs and safety glasses will be available.
To Bring – You will need your rifle and at least 15 rounds.
Register – Please register by email to safgcshoot@gmail.com. Please include your name and what type of rifle you will be shooting, e.g. single shot, bolt action, lever, pump or semi-automatic. Registration will help us prepare for the number of shooters expected. There will be a limit of 24 shooters. The fee is $10/shooter, pay at the event. Pop and hot dogs provided.
Other Information – There may be a photographer on hand taking pictures for the club
website.
There will be some small prizes, but this really is just plain old fun shooting. So bring a good attitude and cheer on the other shooters. If you want to watch, spectators are welcome. As always, we require eye and ear protection for everyone. We will have extra earplugs and a limited number of safety glasses if you need them.
We will be having a work party August 13th at 6:30 pm to fill jugs and prep target stands.
Please indicate if you can help with this when you sign up.
Thanks
Ed Dunfield
